AMC DESIGN was started by Alan McLeod as A.MCLEOD SERVICES in 1997. Alan McLeod is a sole trader, who is a joiner to trade. He is also a fully trained neon glassbender, signmaker, tiler, plasterer, painter, plumber, welder, artist and of course designer.

He has aproximately ten years experience working in the sign industry where he accquired skills in plastic and metal fabrication and manufacturing processes, including moulding and welding, spray-painting, CNC plotter router, electrical fitting out and installation, free standing structure intalls and high voltage neon installs. In the past eighteen years he has been mainly involved with private domestic renovations and conversions. He makes furniture, builds kitchens and in 2005 he graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a first class honours degree in Integrated Product Design which is when A.MCLEOD SERVICES became known as AMC DESIGN

AMC DESIGN does not advertise in yellow pages or in any other random search publication. We depend entirly on word of mouth from satisfied customers whom by their own volition are happy to pass our name on to others. This has created a significant network of people over the years, some of which have become serial customers and even good friends.

AMC DESIGN is protected for liability through AXA Insurance UK Plc

Working exclusively with individuals in the private market AMC DESIGN works one to one with clients to establish a good rapore and line of communication to ensure the brief for the project is fully understood and the solution is fully worked out and realised before any physical work is carried out. This is done by means of various drawing and modelling software packages, rendering sketches by hand and if required actual 3d models or templates can be produced. This part of the initial design process has proven to be most useful and helps to crystalise the project and allow clients to visualise more accurately, the final outcome.

The vast majority of AMC DESIGN work is carried out in situation on site but we have at our disposal a small workshop where various small scale projects can be carried out, such as furniture, models, castings and one off prototypes.

Here is an example of an unusual piece of furniture which was developed and realised in model form before being made in the workshop and delivered.

Custom make-up station made in Mackintosh style.
